iOS 7 Will Now Sync Memo Notes

Just a quick note about iPhone Notes. Since the original iPhone was released in 2007, it only synced Messages, Contacts and Calendar items. Anyone who switched from BlackBerry to iPhone had lost the capability to synchronize notes to their iPhone. ActiveSync is completely capable of doing this, it’s just that Apple omitted this feature when setting up an account to the Exchange Server.

A lot of itrezzo customers were so dependent on this feature that itrezzo created an iPhone app to to download notes and display them.  While we did a more extensive feature set than Apple has done, this application will probably never see the iTunes App store.

One of the odd things about the iOS 7 implementation is that when it displays notes, you don't get to choose how you want the memo notes sorted.  The Notes app always sorts by last modified date. I have not found a way to change the sorting.

However, the Apple developers did put a search bar at the top to make it effortless to find any note you need. The search bar appears when you scroll past the top of the notes. You can put in any search filter and the contents of the notes are scanned and displayed instantly as you input each character of your search string.

So if you are an itrezzo customer that pushed DR and BCP documentation to sticky notes, that information is once again available for your smartphones. Of course, the users must upgrade to iOS 7 first.
